Prep & Layout

Review engineering plans in detail: rebar size, grid spacing, any soil-specific reinforcement.

Confirm coping type. Bond beam height depends on it (e.g., 1.5" for thin stone, 3.5" for cantilever).

Confirm sonotubes are on site for bar stool / in-pool table bases.

Execute

During Work

Standard layout: 12"×12" grid of #3 rebar throughout floor and walls (unless plans specify otherwise).

Set rebar on doby blocks for a minimum 3" of gunite/shotcrete coverage above and below the steel.

Surround the skimmer in steel.

Spa dam wall: 12" wide with double-curtain cage (steel on both sides) for plumbing in between with full 3" coverage on each face.

Notch the spa spillway 2"–3" below the dam wall top per design.

Notch fountain/scupper areas to keep scuppers level with finished coping while preserving structural gunite below.

Tie cages around any cascades per plan.

Form bar stool / table bases with rebar tied into the floor and sized for the supplied sonotubes.

Install a minimum of four bonding clamps with #8 bonding wire whips. Run perimeter bond wire (and bond-beam wire if required) per local jurisdiction.

End of Day & Handoff

Before leaving site: bend all steel ties downward so no metal protrudes toward the plaster surface.

Walk-through with homeowner: confirm every feature is in the cage and engineering plans were followed.
