Prep & Layout

Confirm material supply with homeowner: breakers, conduit, wire, panels.

Confirm with homeowner whether you or the plumber owns bonding on this project.

Verify bonding requirements with local jurisdiction: equipotential grid (#8 copper wire halo), steel grid, or copper bonding grid.

Confirm clearance requirements for all electrical components per manufacturer specs.

Execute

During Work

Run main feed from house panel to pool equipment panel.

Heat pump: dedicated 50-amp breaker panel, separate from the main pool panel.

Install all required panels, breakers, and J-boxes. J-boxes for lights must be elevated above pool waterline.

Wire LED light transformers (one transformer per up to 7 lights) and tie back to power center.

Tie every metal component into the bonding system with #8 copper wire: pumps, J-boxes, transformers, rails, slides, equipment.

Bond every scupper / fountain body to the perimeter wire.

Bond the heat pump chassis to the perimeter wire.

Run perimeter bond wire (the "halo") within 3 ft of waterline, attached to the four (minimum) steel-cage whips with split bolts.

If required: install steel grid or copper bonding grid per jurisdiction.

Install actuators on automated valves and tie into the remote control panel.

Install temperature/flow sensors at heater inlet and outlet.

Wrap Up

End of Day & Handoff

Test every circuit: pumps, lights, valves, automation. Confirm GFCIs trip and reset.

Label every conduit and breaker for future identification.

Tuck perimeter bond wire behind copings/pavers so it's hidden but accessible.

Walk-through with homeowner. Site clean.
