Get Ready

Prep & Layout

Verify with homeowner that pressure has been checked at the equipment (target ~30–35 psi). Don't shoot if there's a leak.

Set up tarps around the project perimeter to contain spray and protect house, windows, landscaping.

Set up button board / pegboard on dam walls and any voids so you have something to shoot against.

Set up tie wires across the pool for true straight lines (especially rectangular pools).

Confirm umbrella sleeve hole locations with homeowner.

Tape/seal every fitting — skimmer, return lines, lights — so material doesn't get inside.

Tape/seal bubblers, scuppers, and fountain fittings — material can't be removed once cured.

Execute

If gunite: nozzle from bottom up, ensure rebound is continuously removed (rebound left in causes structural weakness).

If shotcrete: deliver from premix trucks, no rebound concern, cleaner application.

Maintain 3" coverage above and below all rebar — confirm doby blocks are still in place under the steel.

Notch raised bond beams at 45° after 12" to create the proper coping base.

Hit every elevation per the homeowner walk-through.

Set up the laser/transit and re-level the entire pool perimeter — forms shift during steel and plumbing.

Install umbrella sleeves in pre-marked locations in tanning ledge / Baja shelf.

Install weep hole(s) in the bottom of the shell.

Keep bonding whips exposed and sticking up — do not bury under shotcrete.

If a washout station is required by jurisdiction, set up and use it.

Wrap Up

Remove all rebound from inside the pool and surrounding trenches (gunite jobs especially).

Begin watering down the shell immediately. Tell homeowner the watering schedule (typically 1–2× daily for 7 days).

Walk-through with homeowner: confirm elevations, spillway notch, umbrella sleeve placement.

Clean up site.
