Get Ready

Prep & Layout

Confirm pre-deck inspection passed (bonding wire perimeter halo, 4-point steel cage connection).

Confirm pressure is holding at the equipment before pour.

Set form boards at correct height with kickers as needed for stability.

Backfill and compact all trenches (95–98% compaction).

Backfill the deep-end ramp behind the button board.

Set drainage at 2% slope away from house. Connect downspouts. Add curb cores / pop-up emitters per jurisdiction.

Hook up overflow line to drainage system.

Install all planter sleeves for future irrigation and low-voltage wire.

Install Deco-Foam (or equivalent) around coping perimeter — top peel layer to be removed after cure for mastic joint.

Pavers/travertine: set gravel base, compact, lay Geotex fabric, EZ-Set mix base, compact again.

Execute

During Work

Pour early morning to avoid hot-load cracking.

Screed, then bull float for creamy finish, then edging and score joints, then final finish.

Maximum score joints — joints control cracking. Place generously and walk locations with homeowner.

Broom finish: light or heavy per homeowner selection (heavier = grippier).

Stamped finish: apply release (powder or liquid), stamp mats, color per homeowner selection.

Tarp house and finishes near pour zone to protect from splash.

Wash out hopper to a designated area or washout bag — never into street drains.

Wrap Up

End of Day & Handoff

Wet down the concrete per cure spec (typically wait 24 hrs, then keep wet 3–7 days).

After cure: tear out top peel layer of Deco-Foam, fill with self-leveling joint sealant (NovaLink, Deco Seal, or equivalent). Sprinkle silica sand for grout-look match.

Keep pets and people off fresh concrete.

Walk-through with homeowner. Site clean.
